Sunday Worship begins at 10:30 a.m. every Sunday Sunday Morning Worship is the main event of the week for the Christian congregation. Our first call as Christians is to offer worship to God. When our relationship with God is in the right balance, we are enabled to present Christ to the world with confidence, and we are empowered to serve the needs of the world as God calls us to. Grace United Church's Worship services are traditional in style, yet relaxed. There is no expectation that people "dress up." Music is usually accompanied on organ and piano, and we sing a mixture of old time favourites and newer compositions. The starting point for the sermon is the central Bible story for the day, to see what it has to say for our lives today.
Sunday School - Children are welcome to join their parents in the sanctuary for the beginning of worship at 10:30am. On most Sundays, approximately 15 minutes into the worship, we have "Grace Time," a short story time when the minister and the children have a little chat. There might be a story from a story book, a symbol of the church, an object to examine, a lively conversation, or a blessing. After a brief prayer, the children are invited to continue their learning in Sunday School. We have several dedicated Sunday School teachers who take turns teaching the children about the wisdom of the Bible, and doing crafts with them.
Coffee Time - Following worship every week we will have coffee and refreshments in the downstairs hall, prepared by Grace volunteers. People find this a good time to "check in" with one another. During the harvest season, the fall, people who have produce in their gardens that they would like to share, place it on the harvest table, and those who could use the produce are free to help themselves. They can make a donation, if they choose, and place it in the boot. The money will be used to help give poverty the boot.
